The word Guru (गुरु) is from the ancient language Sanskrit. The syllable "Gu" means darkness- symbolizing ignorance, or the absence of knowledge. The syllable "ru" means the light that dispels darkness- symbolizing learning and enlightenment. Thus, the word Guru refers to all the people in our lives that lead, enhance, and guide our education and growth.
